Wordpress Upgrade

By Michael Lundberg | September 6, 2007

Several weeks back I successfully upgraded my WordPress implementation from version 2.1.3 to version 2.2.1. All I can say is thank goodness for Fantastico scripts and my hosting provider, AH Hosting. Without those scripts, I don’t think I would’ve attempted the upgrade. The process was fairly straightforward. I did the upgrade in several easy steps:

  1. Did a complete backup of the blog, including a database backup - you can never be too safe!
  2. Disabled all plugins - luckily, I’m not running many
  3. Ran the Fantastico upgrade scripts
  4. Re-enabled the plugins
  5. Checked everything out to make sure it was still working

Listen, I just want to blog. I don’t want to have to worry about system administration and upgrading files.

Now that I’m up to version 2.2.1, I have to upgrade to 2.2.2. Sigh.
