Finally, an update!
By Michael Lundberg | October 2, 2007
Well, well, well… it’s been a long time since I last updated the site. Almost fourteen days to be exact. It’s been a busy couple of weeks. How busy, you ask? Let me count the ways…
On Monday, September 17th I attended the Arctic Monkeys/Queens of the Stone Age concert at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston. This was a great show. At the show, I met KiKi, who happened to be taking some great photos and video with a digital camera. How she got it in, I’ll never know. My photos, taken with my BlackBerry Curve camera phone (de-emphasize camera, folks) from the show are here. Luckily, KiKi’s photos are much better than mine. You can find her photos here and her videos here and here. She seems to take a bunch of pics and video at concerts, so I’ve subscribed to her YouTube feed which you can find here.
Next, I went to the Interpol concert on Tuesday, September 25th, also at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston. I’m actually more of a QOTSA fan, but this was an even “awesomer” concert than the AM/QOTSA show. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen QOTSA several times and this was my first time to see Interpol, but these guys rawked. Is “awesomer” even a word? What about “rawked”? My automated spellcheck says no. Anywho, I took some more really bad photos which you can find here.
Oh, I’m also tentatively planning to go see “Say Hi to Your Mom”, who are now just called, “Say Hi.” I’ve written about this great and little know band in the past. Say Hi is playing in Houston on October 24th. More about the show here.
On Thursday, September 27th, I got a new work laptop. Bu-bye Dell Lattitude D600 and hello IBM Lenovo T61. I spent most of the weekend, reinstalling applications and moving things over to my new laptop. It’s slightly heavier than my old laptop and by a slightly, I mean a lot. This thing is a brick. I guess that’s the price you pay for having a widescreen laptop. I can deal with it. Luckily, I don’t have to change laptops very often. This is my first IBM/Lenovo computer and I have to say that I’m liking it so far.
After that, I went to see the Houston Astros get killed 7-2 on Friday, September 28th by the Atlanta Braves. It was miserable, but I got a couple of good photos of my son which you can find here and here.
Lastly, this weekend, my wife and I put on a garage sale at our house on Saturday (9/29) and Sunday (9/30). I really shouldn’t take any credit for this since my wife organized it, priced everything, made signs, etc. I just took money from people that showed up, which is what I do best. Some thoughts on anyone considering a garage sale:
- don’t pull out your stuff until you’re ready to start the garage sale - my wive wanted to start pulling stuff out at 8:15am when it was advertised to start at 9am. She might as well have fired off a gun at the starting line, because the people started coming. And yes, we had people in front of our house, waiting for us to start.
- don’t make the garage sale all day. We sold most of our stuff from 8:15am - 3pm, but we advertised it for 9am - 5pm. The professional bargain hunters know that the good stuff (ie the higher priced stuff) is gone in the first couple of hours and they won’t bother coming by in the later hours of the sale.
- do the whole thing in 1 day. Again, we advertised a 2 day garage sale, but we hardly had any shoppers on the second day.
Okay - enough self absorption. No one wants to read about that. Let’s get to the good stuff! I’ve got a couple more new Web 2.o invites to give away, which I really need to post and a review or two about some of the sites out there. That’s all coming up. So sit tight!

Hey Michael- I know the feeling, I’ve been busy too. Sounds like it’s been fun for the most part though! I’m hoping soon I’ll have my own domain and blog going. It’s amazing how much time I’ve spent researching hosting, domain names, pros and cons for different routes I want to go, etc. Well anyway, hope all is well.
Later,
Jim

@ Jim - Thanks! Glad to see that I haven’t lost yah! I spent a lot of time researching hosting providers, blog software, etc. One thing that I have learned is it appears to be pretty easy to export all of your stuff out of Wordpress and import it into another Wordpress installation (editor’s note: I’ve never done it before, thought), which should remove any fear of you selecting the wrong hosting provider. If they turn out to be a stinker, you can just export your stuff and take it elsewhere. Of course, you’re still out the time and money, but…
I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Now you’re building it up to be something really good. You’ve piqued my interest!
Thanks,
Michael Lundberg

Oh no, I don’t know if building any expectations is good or bad, guess it depends on how well I live up to them.
Really, what has me hung up right now is choosing a domain name the is relevant but still catchy. I could easily go with some form of my name, and I may do that still, but something a ‘catchier’ is what I really want. Well, catch you around, and we’ll have to get in on a Weewar game soon.
