A MyYahoo! Re-Design and Yahoo! Star Wars
By Michael Lundberg | November 17, 2007
You may not have noticed it, but Yahoo recently updated their My Yahoo! portal sites. I typically log into my My Yahoo! portal about once a week. All of the big portal sites offer stock quotes, but one of the things that I really like about My Yahoo! is that I can view all the stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs that I own, all in one place. Other sites don’t always have access to mutual funds and ETF stock quotes.
In my most recent login to My Yahoo!, I noticed that the entire site had been redesigned. I’ll need to delete all my old widgets that no longer work, but over all, the redesign looks like a good thing. One feature in particular that I like is the My Yahoo! Reader. Basically, it allows you to read an external article without leaving My Yahoo!. It’s only available when the publisher offers the full article via their RSS feed. Nice!
While browsing everything else, I noticed an advertisement for a Yahoo! Star Wars page. The site is still in beta, but it looks to feature everything related to Star Wars. It offers Star Wars photos, videos, costumes, and forums. Some videos are fan generated and come courtesy of You Tube, while others are official videos from what appears to be a partnership with the official site, Star Wars.com. It’s amazing the amount of stuff you can find on the Yahoo site (and I’m sure elsewhere, if you look for it). You can use your Yahoo! account to log in and leave comments and vote for the best videos. One of the funniest videos I found is a mash-up of Dora the Explorer and Star Wars. I’ve embedded the YouTube video below, but you can also find it on Yahoo’s site here.
