Spotlight on St. Augustine, Florida

By Michael Lundberg | November 24, 2007

With three kids, I don’t get to travel as much as I’d like to and when I do, I like to do something thing that is relaxing, kid-friendly, and cultural. When doing some online research, I discovered the beautiful city of St. Augustine, Florida. St. Augustine is a great destination city that offers amazing history, attractions, golfing and plenty of cultural events for the artisan in everyone. It was the first permanent European settlement in America and has been culturally influenced by Native Americans, Spanish Explorers (for example, Ponce de Leon) and even British rulers.

I did a quick search on the web and found lots of interesting things to do and places to visit. St. Augustine offers many antique shops, golfing, and both casual and fine dinning options. One of the most interesting events happens on the first Friday and Saturday of every month at the St. Augustine Artwalk, which features the work of local artists including exhibits, music, and all kinds of entertainment. There is free parking and free sightseeing train and trolley tours are available for the event as well. The First Friday Weekend Art Walk is “the” cultural event in St. Augustine and a great place to see everything that the city has to offer all in one spot!

If you’re exploring options for your next getaway, take a look at St. Augustine, Florida.
