Find a hosting provider with Web Hosting Choice

By Michael Lundberg | December 21, 2007

When I first decided to start my blog, it was important to me that I get an independent hosting company. I wanted to have full control of my blog, without restrictions. The problem was, none of my close friends were blogging (or if they were, they were using a hosted solution), so I was virtually on my own when it came to selecting a hosting company. If you’ve never searched for a hosting company, take it from me: there are hundreds of companies to choose from and they each have their own features, pros and cons.

It’s a little late now, but I came across a great site that reviews web hosting companies called “Web Hosting Choice”. Like the name implies, Web Hosting Choice is a guide to web hosting providers. There is an enormous list (several hundred) of hosting providers, and the different hosting plans offered by each provider. To make things easier, the list is searchable by any number of features that you might require (such as webmail, SSH, Python, etc.). Another very useful feature is the Learning Center, which provides outlines on how to register your domain name, some common scams to avoid, and the difference between dedicated servers and collocation services.

It can be difficult to know what to look for in a web hosting provider, but Web Hosting Choice is a great place to get started. Check ‘em out at http://www.webhostingchoice.com
