Back from TUCON 2008
By Michael Lundberg | May 9, 2008
Last week I attended the TIBCO User Conference in San Francisco (affectionately known as “TUCON”). It was a good event for learning more about Service Oriented Architecture software and implementation, but it’s the best event if you (like me) implement TIBCO Software. I thought that the best keynote speeches came from Robert Beauchamp, President and CEO of BMC Software, and Anthony Abbattista, VP Technology Solutions, Allstate.
Other interesting announcements included:
- BMC will embed TIBCO ActiveMatrix in their upcoming Business Service Management (BSM) platform, Atrium (announcement link).
- Integration between TIBCO Enterprise Messaging Service (EMS) and Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation (announcement link).
- TIBCO selects Microsoft’s Silverlight for rich internet application development (which should compliment TIBCO’s AJAX tool, TIBCO General Interface).
- TIBCO Messaging Appliance, a hardware-based solution used to improve TIBCO Rendezvous throughput (announcement link).
All in all, I came away impressed with TIBCO Software’s product roadmap and direction. I only wonder how much longer they’ll be able to remain an independent company before someone acquires them.
Of course, it would be nice if TIBCO included an iPod Touch with your registration like BEA is doing at it’s user conference this year. At least next year TUCON will be in Vegas.
