Send files with Senduit
By Michael Lundberg | May 12, 2008
Have you ever tried to email a file to someone, only to have it bounce because you exceeded their maximum attachment size? Ever needed to borrow an FTP site for five minutes, just to transfer a file or two? If so, you’re in luck to today. Let me introduce you to Senduit.
Senduit is a great little service provide by the wonderful folks at Davidville (they’re the guys behind the wildly popular tumblr service). The Senduit website is elegant in its simplicity and rather than try to explain to you in my own words what it does, I’ll just borrow from the site:
Step 1: Upload your file
Step 2: Share your private link
That’s pretty much it. There’s a 100 mb limit which should be plenty for any “normal” user. You can also select a time for the link to auto-expire, anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 week. There’s no user accounts. There’s no passwords. You just upload your file, select an expiration time and distribute your link. Your link can be used an unlimited amount of times before it expires. Even though there’s no way to browse the uploads, it’s recommended that you don’t use Senduit for anything personal or confidential. Duh!
Senduit’s Privacy Policy is generous. Basically, your files are not saved, analyzed or reviewed. After a link expires, the file is automatically deleted from their systems. There’s some other legalese in their Terms of Service, but it’s standard stuff that looks like it’s mostly meant to protect Senduit from illegal filesharers.
Senduit is a useful, free, and anonymous temporary fileshare service. Bookmark the site and the next time you need to send your buddy a big file, give Senduit a try.
