The Happening Redband Trailer

I’m a sucker for redband trailers. If you don’t know the lingo, “redband” (as they say on the internets), is just code for an rated R trailer. Now, I’m not talking about a trailer for a rated R movie, I’m talking about the trailer itself being rated R. It’s called redband because just before the trailer starts, a band of red appears on the screen warning you that the preview is rated R, instead of the typical green colored band that pops up. When I saw that there was a redband trailer for the new M. Night Shyamalan thriller, The Happening, I had to check it out.
Without giving too much away about the movie, it stars Mark Wahlberg and John Leguizamo as two guys trying to escape some kind of event (or “happening”) that inexplicably affects people worldwide:
- The first stage is loss of speech
- The second stage is physical disorientation
- The third stage is… fatal
Just like any M. Night Shyamalan movie, the trailer is a little freaky anyway, but the redband version goes to “eleven”, if you know what I mean. There’s no swearing or nudity in the preview, just some brief glimpses of gory images, so it’s mostly safe for work. Enjoy (you’ll need to enter your age to gain entry to the video):
The movie is set to be released on Friday, June 13th, 2008. How convenient.
